Rand Paul Lashes Out at 'Neocons' Backing Egyptian Coup

The Kentucky senator has complained that "American tax dollars flow no matter which despot rules." He's lamented constant US intervention in the Middle East both overt and covert. And he's decried what he sees as the likely continuation of US funding to whomever replaces ousted Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi.

The legal rationale for continuing funds to Egypt makes matters tricky, however. As Politix reported, "Obama stopped short of calling the Egyptian army's ouster of President Morsi a coup" because US law requires America to suspend aid to countries where there's been a coup d'etat.
