Santorum shows that good old neocon cluelessness

First off, he doesn't even know the terms of the debate. What's a "guerrilla insurgence force?" Guerrillas are insurgents by definition. That's hardly a minor point, given the ongoing debate about the wisdom of fighting counterinsurgency wars, a debate of which Rick seems blissfully unaware. Second, just what is his plan for eradicating the guerrillas? I've been covering counterinsurgency wars since 1985 and I never heard of such a plan, at least not one successfully implemented by an occupying power. The Salvadorans and Guatemalans did indeed eradicate insurgencies, but they did so precisely because they were extremely brutal and had nowhere else to go.

That recent slaughter by an American GI? There were far worse slaughters that never made the news during those insurgencies.

Does Rick want to fire up the death squads? It works like a charm, but it's messy stuff.

Gary Bauer to Endorse Santorum

A source close to the presidential campaign of Rick Santorum tells ABC News that the former Pennsylvania senator will pick up the endorsement of Christian conservative activist Gary Bauer on Sunday.

Bauer ran for president himself in 2000, and is part of the group of conservative leaders trying to figure out around which candidate the movement should coalesce so as to stop Mitt Romney from grabbing plurality wins all the way to the nomination, with conservatives like Santorum, Newt Gingrich, Rick Perry and Ron Paul splitting the non-Romney vote.

The news of Bauer’s endorsement was first reported by the Washington Post’s Dan Balz.

Tough guys: GOP’s Rick Perry and Rick Santorum go neocon on Iran

In their desperate bid to avoid any of the really critical issues that are affecting the United States of America, most runners in the GOP presidential race have opted instead to play the fear card, and build-up those crucial neoconservative credentials before the 2012 primaries.

Bilderberg candidate Rick Perry (TX) and rear guard runner Rick Santorum (PA) took the opportunity during their recent Iowa campaign trail to hop on the war hawk’s bandwagon ahead of today’s IAEA’s intelligence assessment on Iran’s allegedly nuclear weapons program.

The New York Times reported today that both men have taken clear pro-war stances, pledging their support for both joint and unilateral pre-emptive military strikes against the Islamic Republic.

Rick Santorum & His Neocon Ilk Are Culpable For 9/11, Not America

Rick Santorum tries to say Dr. Paul "blames America" for 9/11. This is nothing but desperate, pathetic demagoguery. Personally, I hold neocon trash like Rick Santorum culpable for 9/11, as he & his ilk are those who supported policies of interventionism, preemptive war, & decided America was the "policeman" of the world. These arrogant, ethnocentric, uneducated saboteurs of the Constitution are those who are truly to blame for the blowback which exposed itself on 9/11. And I would say this straight to his face.

Rick Santorum's neocon warmongering problem

Rick Santorum has a little problem. It's his neocon warmongering problem. He thought he would try to score political points by taking a cheap shot at Congressman Ron Paul. In his feeble attempt to score points he mischaracterized Ron Paul's position on 9/11. Ron Paul does not blame the United States, or the whole of the country, for 9/11. Ron Paul says that the foreign policy of politicians like Rick Santorum has consequences.

However, I will concede that so long as the official government story on 9/11 remains intact, Ron Paul can appear to be somewhat less than patriotic for not supporting the war. But suppose one questions the government's official conspiracy theory. Does that mean the person blames the entire country? No. If 19 guys, commandeered by guys from caves in Afghanistan, could have pulled off 9/11, then I don't know why 19 other guys couldn't have done the same thing to then blame it on somebody else. Ron Paul's delivery is also not the best.
