Mordechai Vanunu - Out of Prison, Not Free Yet
Actions marking one year since Vanunu's release from prison - April 18-22

April 21 will mark one year since Mordechai Vanunu was released from
Ashkelon Prison, after spending 18 years behind bars. But Mordechai Vanunu
is not yet free: by means of British Mandate Emergency Regulations from
1945, the Israeli government continues to keep him hostage in Israel, and to
severely violate his human rights. Moreover, Vanunu is being charged with
violating the restrictions by committing the crime of... giving interviews
to the world media. His trial is scheduled to begin on April 12*.

Vanunu's supporters, anti-nuclear, peace and human right activists, from
Israel and abroad, will gather in Israel from April 18-22, to protest the
continued persecution of the nuclear whistleblower. We will call for
Vanunu's full freedom and for abolishing nuclear weapons, in Israel and in
the entire Middle East. We will call on Israel to open its nuclear
installations to international inspection and monitoring and to cease its
persecution of the only individual who has exposed secret nuclear weapons in
the Middle East. We will call on the international community to perform its
duty, and to protect the peoples of Israel and of the region from a
dangerous nuclear program that is kept secret from the world.

* On April 12, 2:30 p.m., Vanunu's supporters will gather at the
Magistrates' Court in Jerusalem (Russian Compound - Migrash Harussim) to
protest his trial.
