379. Against Neocon Domination
Ron Paul talks to LewRockwell about these enemies of freedom.

Desperate Neocons Dig Up the Rotted, Smelly Corpse of Lincoln . . .
. . . yet again in an amateurish rehash of nineteenth-century Republican Party propaganda (a.k.a., "Straussianism") in the form of a National Neocon Review cover story titled "Defending Lincoln." The way to become politically relevant and win over America's youth, says Rich Lowry (who apparently will always look like he just started shaving last week) is to continue to libel and smear Ron Paul and "the fever swamp of LewRockwell.com" while composing boring, poorly-written, long-winded apologies for the abolition of civil liberties, crackdowns on free speech, the imprisoning of dissenters, pervasive spying by the state, the deportation of political opponents, massive taxation and debt to pay for it all, centralized, monopolistic government, crony capitalism, and above all, never-ending aggressive wars all around the world in the name of "making all men free."
This of course is all in keeping with founding the ideology and main purpose of National Neocon Review's founder, "former" CIA employee William F. Buckley, Jr., who wrote in the January 25, 1952 issue of The Commonweal magazine that what America needed was "the extensive and productive tax laws that are needed to support a vigorous anti-communist foreign policy . . . . we have got to accept Big Government for the duration -- for neither an offensive nor a defensive war can be waged . . . except through the instrumentality of a totalitarian bureaucracy within our shores . . . . [including] large armies and air forces, atomic energy, central intelligence, war production boards, and the attendant centralization of power in Washington." (See Murray Rothbard, "Buckley Revealed" at: http://www.lewrockwell.com/rothbard/rothbard6.html). Just a few years after Americans fought a war against fascism, the "founder of modern conservatism" demanded that conservatives adopt fascism as their ideology. Buckley, in other words, was the original neoconman.

Another Nail in the Neocon Coffin
The recent opening of the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity was a watershed moment in American history. There has never been anything quite like it. Ideologically diverse, the Ron Paul Institute reaches out to all Americans, and indeed to people all over the world, who find the spectrum of foreign-policy opinion in the United States to be unreasonably narrow. Until Ron Paul and his new institute, there was no resolutely anti-interventionist foreign-policy organization to be found.
Neoconservatives have not responded warmly to the announcement of Ron's new institute. Whatever their particular gripes, we can be absolutely certain of the real reason for their unhappiness: they have never faced systematic, organized opposition before.

Neocons Want To Bomb LRC
Wow. I always knew the neocons hated LRC, but now I also know the extent of their fear. From the NY Times on down (or is that on up?), they all want to destroy this website. It's been the 10-minute hate. And, of course, for pro-war, pro-police state, pro-empire types who exalt the "Noble Lie," no fib is too fictional.
Why the hate? It's the rebuke of our massive traffic, up 19.7% in 2011 alone, according to Google. It reaches into every corner of America and the world. This was already the best-read libertarian site ever, and now we've taken another giant step (as the Times goes out of business). But the real reason for the fear and hate is our Rothbardian, anarcho-capitalist ideas, and their demonstrated power to change hearts and minds, no matter what fabrications the establishment spreads. LRC is the powerful teacher of freedom, markets, peace, and historical truth. So, of course, the poisoned arrows fly.
The advocates of the State – these days, one variety of fascist or another – freak out at LRC. They pull out the long knives. But donations from our readers are the best armor. With our gifts last year, we were able to move our site to a freer country, with another foreign backup, and to redo the content management system to make the site more robust. We want to step up security, too, of course. But income minus expenses for 2011 leaves us more than $45,000 in the hole. If you want to see LRC thrive and grow, triumph over the enemy, and spread the word even more effectively, a donation would be a huge help. Every dollar helps defeat the neocon menace.
I won't let these fascists win. Or, rather, with your help, we won't.
